He was married to Sarah E. Messick (daughter of Francis Messick and Ann Berkshire) on 7 Jul 1870 in Somerset County, Md.. Sarah E. Messick died on 16 Feb 1930 in Worcester County, Md.. Levin James Houston Sr. and Sarah E. Messick had the following children:
