Cattle Mark recorded |
8 Oct 1708 |
(formerly Somerset Co), Worcester Co, Maryland [3] |
- Mark transferred from William Answorth [Ainsworth] 18 Jan 1708, signed in October; possibly a transcription error as a complete reading of the 1708 records does not show this - Roger's relationship with the Ainsworths was much later.

Court - named in suit |
22 Mar 1717 |
Somerset Co, Maryland [4] |
- Named in suit, Jeremiah Morris (Pocomoke) vs. Roger Taylor(All Hallows Parish). As he could not be a party in a suit until age 21, he was either older than thought or he was represented by a guardian, or this is another case of a transcription error, as Rober with a small "t" above looks like Roger

Court - named in petition |
Jun 1726 |
Somerset Co, Maryland [5] |
- Mistranscription in court case involving Robert Taylor and his mother Margaret keeping and nursing Rachel Porter and her baby. Robert is written Rober with a small "t" to the right, transcribed much later as Roger

Land bought |
3 Feb 1731 |
(formerly Somerset Co), Worcester Co, Maryland [6] |
- John Cupman, late of Somerset County, was granted 200 acre tract Temple Comb 10 Jun 1682. He died intestate with no male heir so land descended to his two daughters, Mary and Sarah; Mary died young; Sarah married William Ainsworth. Roger Taylor purchased the eastern half (100 acres) for 5,000 pounds of tobacco. Witt: John Pope, Wm Lane

Tax list |
1733 through 1736 |
Worcester Co, Maryland |
- Roger Taylor is listed as dependent account, Pokomoke Hundred, under Mary Alexander Mills, widow of Robert Mills. Also listed as dependent are Mary's sons Moses and Smith Mills and slaves Hector and Simon. As there doesn't appear to be any family connection he may have been working there as a laborer, age 16 or older. Roger Taylor is also noted at this time as household head, Mattapony Hundred, where Temple Comb, which he purchased in 1731, was located. From 1734 through 1739 a John Taylor is listed as dependent of Roger Taylor. This was probably the same John Taylor who was listed in Mattapony Hundred 1723 tax list as dependent of Joseph Taylor who relocated to Baltimore Hundred by 1727. [7]
