  Anecdote	Their is an issue with proving that Rickards 'Dickie' Dunton (1790-1855) was the son of Rickards (of Wm) Dunton Senr & Sophia Harmanson. I cited the Dunton Family report published by Dr. Bill Burton and Gail Walczyk in 2001. I knew both of them personally and trust their work. However, their source for this relationship, the 1850 Federal Census for Northampton Co showing Ricketts Dunton, a 60 year old carpenter, the head of HH#441, with a wife Henrietta, age 50, will not be accepted by the Jamestown Society as proof that he was the son of Rickards Dunton Senr & Sophia Harmanson, just because he was named Ricketts Dunton. When he died in 1855, age 65, his parents were not shown on his death record. He was also not listed in the birth records in the Hungar's Parish Vestry Book where 7 other children of Rickards Dunton & Sophia Harmanson were listed. He was also not listed in Rickards Dunton Senr's will of 1820 which named 9 children. It's hard to imagine Rickards Dunton Senr not naming a son Rickards. I'm guessing Rickards Senr did not name him in his will because he had already given some land to his son Rickards by a deed of gift, but I don't have such a record. I'd have to make a trip to Eastville and go thru 3 or 4 deed books hoping to find such a deed of gift. Without more convincing proof, I don't recommend applying for membership in the Jamestown Society at this time.
