  	Walter Scott (Scot) came to Virginia on the Hercules in 1618 and on 16 Feb 1624 was living on the Eastern Shore with his wife Aphia. In 1624 he was among those who gave Capt. Samuel Matthews a tobacco note in payment for a debt. In early 1625 Walter and Aphia Scott and their child, Pervis (Percis), still were living on the Eastern Shore. In Sept 1626 Walter sent goods from London to Virginia on the ship Plantation. In Oct 1627 John Wilcocks, whose property was on the upper side of Old Plantation Creek, offered to let Walter Scott (then his tenant) have 3 shares of his tobacco crop, or more if he agreed to oversee Wilcock's servants. Scott declined. In 1633 Walter Scott publicly admitted that his taxes were in arrears and that he was indebted to others. However, he apparently was considered a man of integrity, for in 1634 he was named provost marshall. By 1635 he appears to have made some economic progress, for he acquired a land certificate after proving that he had brought 6 people to Virginia. When he testified in court in Jan 1636, he gave his age as 50. When William Smith made his will the following year, he named Walter Scott as executor. In late January 1638 Capt. Samuel Matthews testified that Walter Scott had been poor at the time of his death and that he (Matthews) had provided for Walter's widow. In 1642 Samuel Scott was identified as Walter's orphan.

  	Upon the complaint of Phillip Taylor against John Little for abusing his house in going to bed to the maid of said Taylor and the next day Little being at work in the ground with a company of men boasted that the cooke was up, and the steale down and reddy to give fyre, but as the Little confessed he was disturbed. It is therefore ordered that John Little shall for the offence lay neck and heels close for 3 hours and for as much as Little confessed himself to be drunk at that time, it is ordered that he shall pay 5 shillings unto Walter Scott provost marshall. It is ordered that Ellen Muce for accusing John Little to have to do with her in the act of fornication and not approving the same, shall be whipped.

  	In the first place Walter Scott made suit unto this court for land for the adventure of 6 persons into this country which upon due examination and making it appear by sufficient testimony we do therefore certify the same for a truth to the governor and council under the title of our court.

  	Walter Scott, aged 50 or there abouts, sworne and examined sayth that he herd good wife Roades say that she would see William Smith paid 200 lbs tobacco. William Berriman aged 34 or there abouts, sworne and examined sayth that William Smith spoke to him to speak to Roger Roads for 200 lbs tobacco due to the said Smith and that Roads promised this deponent a bill for the said tobacco in behalf of William Smith, but the said Roads went over the bay and gave him not a bill.
