  	According to a deposition he gave in 1685 when he stated his age as 24, he would have been born in 1661, but he was evidently alive in 1657 when his father deeded him land.

  	I, Christopher Calvert of Northampton County, do out of the love & affection I bear unto my children give unto them as hereafter mentioned. First - I give my son Christopher Calvert 3 cows, a 2 year old heifer & a yearling heifer; and to my son Charles Calvert 3 cows, a 2 year old heifer & a yearling heifter; & unto my daughter Mercy Calvert 3 cows; and my son Charles a featherfed & boulster & a pillow and 400 acres of land out of my Devident of 800 acres at Onancock; and the other 400 acres to my daughter Mercy; and to my son Christopher a featherbed, boulster & pillow. I reserve the male cattle unto my self untill my children come to age, and make delivery of them unto the care & custody of my very good friends Dr. George Hacke, Capt.   	It was on this date that Charles & Mary Calvert were issued a patent for 800 acres, being a neck of land in N'hampton Co. It was upon south side of the main south branch of Ananock, bounded on the north by the main creek, on the west by a branch parting this & land of John Jenkins & on the east by another branch parting it from land of William Mellings. It had been granted to Christopher Calvert on 2 Oct 1655 & asigned to the abovenamed. According to Whitelaw it was in this year that the patent on this tract was reissued to Charles and Mary Calvert and 12 years later (1672) it was reissued to them.

  	Deposition of Charles Colvart aged about 24 years: While he was living at Thomas Middleton's house in 1682, Charles saw James Ewell give a Middleton a bill for "3000 & odd" pounds of tobacco. Middleton said he would pay Ewell's wife "a hogshead of tobacco in a store or elsewhere for nursing the said Middleton's child." Ewell wanted it discounted from his bill, but Middelton said no, "I will pay your wife in a store, else she will say twill do her no good." Signed and sworn in open court 7 July 1785, by Charles (O) Colvert.
