Commander of New Jersey Militia (1668-1670); Justice of the Peace of Sussex Co., DE 1678-86; President, Justice of the Peace of Sussex (1680-83); Representative at First Assembly in Pennsylvania (1682, 83, 85, 94, 97) and Provincial Council (1684-86, 1688-90); High Sheriff of Sussex Co., DE (1703-05); Captain (1697).

- According to First Settlers of Piscatawsay and Woodbridge, Luke Watson was son of John Watson of Connecticut, who d. before 1638 and had a daughter Anna Watson by a former wife; his then wife, Elizabeth was called mother-in-law (step-mother) to Anna Watson in 1639. William Cramer of Elizabethtown, NJ, sold out on 1 Sep 1677 to John Tow, weaver, and soon after removed with Luke Watson to Whore-Kill, Lewes, DE. Cramer d. in 1695. According to Biographical And Genealogical History of the State of Delaware ... published by J. M. Runk and Co. (hereafter cited as Runk), Luke Watson, son of John Watson and wife Elizabeth, dau. of William Frost of Fairfield, CT, was b. 1630-40, d. Oct 1705. His mother after the death of his father, m. 2nd John Gray in 1644 and moved to Jamaica, Long Island, NY. Luke m. 1st Sarah (N) by whom he had Luke Watson, Jr., d. 1708, constable 1687, member of PA assembly. Luke moved to Lewes c1677.

- on 7 Oct 1678 petitioned for land at the Whorekill. . Associated with him in Whorekill and similarly a removal from New York to Delaware was Hon. Peter Alrichs. Luke Watson. Luke was a representative from Delaware to Governor's Council of PA, 1683-88; member of Provincial Council, PA, 1685; Delaware Assembly from Sussex Co., 1682, 83, 87, 94, 97, 98. He was called Captain, 1684-1705; High Sheriff, 1705.

MARY to be equally divided between them, and the afsd. Sarah Watson died intestate leaving issue John Paynter, Richard Paynter and Thomas Paynter, afsd. Thomas Paynter died leaving Mary who intermarried with Peter Hoffman and Lydia, his lawful issue to whom his share of the half of 1500 a. did equally descend ... beginning on Mispillon Creek ... 112 a.
