- In 1693 the governor appointed Samuel Sandford hight sheriff of Accomack and later in that year Sandford purchased 550 acres from tract A160 near Jenkins Bridge. A few years later Samuel Sandford returned to London.

- The Rent Rolls 1666-1723 showed Samuel Sandford in possession of 500 acres. Then in 1758 John Sanford of Virgnia sold to John Dennis of Maryland.

- 1672 Patent to Captain John West and Charles Scarburgh for 2,500 acres. 1679 Repatented to West alone. 1680 Repatented to Captain Daniel Jenifer, but two years later he assigned his rights to West, who then received still another patent in his name, but shortly afterwards sold it all to Samuel Sanford, Merchant, of London. 1702 Patent to Sanford for 2,870 acres, being his purchase plus 370 acres of new land. 1704 One more patent to Sandford as 2,950 acres.

To Susanna Sandford, daughter of my brother John Sandford, sometime of Princess Ann County, Virginia. To Mary Sandford, daughter of my brother John. To John Parry, son of Thomas Parry, my kinsman in Maryland. To Thomas Sandford, my kinsman living in Fenchurch Street in London. To Kathrine Sandford, my sole Exec., daughter of my brother Gyles Sandford, bal. of estate not otherwise bequested in Virginia, Maryland or elsewhere in America, Great Britain or any other Kingdom &c. & should she die without issue then to Susanna & Mary Sandford, daughters of my brother John. NOTE: The Sandford Charity Ledger Book contains the following additional information from his will. Item - I give for the benefit (of) better learning and education of poor children whose parents are estimated unable to give them learning, living in the upper parts of Accomack County in Virginia that is to say from Guilford Creek directly to the sea side and likewise from Guilford Creek to the dividing line parting Virginia and Maryland as followeth: I give the (rents) and profits of all that peace and parcel of lands and marsh ground containing 2,500 acres more or less within my bounds mentioned in patent with what more found according to the survey of Edmund Scarburgh made in or about the month of April one thousand seven hundred being three hundred and seventy acres more, the whole being two thousand and eight hundred and seventy acres more or less which lands which land I bought of Lieut-Col. John West and is adjoining to Sixess Island, mesongo creek and Pocomoke bay in Accomack County, also the rents and profit of that piece and parcel of land adjoining to Crooked Creek and the dams, which land I bought of Nathaniel Ractliff containing five hundred and fifty acres more or less with all its fences plantations buildings improvements water courses comodityes privileges and appurtenances thereunto belonging and appertaining all which lands being in Accomack County in Virginia hereby authorizing and empowering such person or persons who are Justices of the Peace, Church Wardens or of the Vestry for their time being there or the major part of them being inhabitants of those upward parts of the County of Accomack aforementioned or any other person or persons they shall authorize and appoint to lett and sett the aforesaid for the better improvements thereupon for any Term of years not exceeding seven years at one time by lease or leases as they shall think fit to divide the lands into plantations for better improvements thereof and for the support of better learning and education of poor children for which uses the rents and profits whereof is bequeathed and given for ever with what hogs and pigs and all utensils about my houses and plantations therein and thereon found that is properly mine or belonging to me not otherwise bequeathed. Herby humbly praying the Honorable the Governor of Virginia for the time being with the honorable Council of State their Care that the terms by this my will given maybe appropriated for the uses intended and prescribed serving only liberty for my two servants Will and Jack negro men to clear ground and plant upon said land at convenient distance from plantations already settled for their proper use as farming for and during their natural lives giving them such bedding and other articles and working instruments as they have in their possession to work with all in Virginia. I hereby certify that the foregoing is a true extract from the will of Samuel Sanford dec'd, admitted to be recorded in my office 1 Jan 1711.
