Her brother, Rush, went to Philadelphia, and her brothers, Frank and Charles were sent to be with their sister, Jennie and her husband, Joseph Whittington. Ida kept a diary for many years when she was living at "Beckford," that not only provides insight into life of the times, social events and daily farm life, but was instrumental in putting many pieces of this and other families together.
