  	It was in this year that a patent was issued to Lewin Denwood for 150 acres of tract N30 (Old Plantation Neck). In 1641 the Roger Saunders 300 acres was now owned by George Traveller and this Denwood piece also was found to be a part of it and the court ruled that Traveller was to have possession of it at the expiration of a 7-year lease which Denwood had given to John Seaverne Chirurgion.

  	It was on this date that Liveing Denwood and John Harlow were named to appraise the estate of Edward Roach, widow Elizabeth.

  	It was in this year that Liveing Denwood was issued a patent for 600 acres of tract N79 (at Bayford on the south side of Nassawadox Creek). His given name later became Levin, which is common on the Shore today. Denwood was a Quaker and in early days often was in trouble with the court as he was suspected of harboring Quakers on their way up to Maryland. He and his wife Mary moved there themselves and he died some time after 1663. Among other children they had a son Levin, who in herited the title to this land, and a daughter Susanna who married the neighbor Thomas Browne as reported. In 1642 Edmund Scarburgh testified that Denwood had given 100 acres at the east end of his land to William Cole, but no deed was ever given. This 100 acres became merged with N80 for a while.

  	The deposition of John Seaverne, Chirurgion, had and taken in open court, saith that Liveing Denwood being at his house they being at prayers, said unto Seaverne, country man, how long have you learned this of my neighbor Traviler, and concerning that the said Traviler was a hypocrite, the said Denwood delivered some words to that purpose. The deposition of John Pott had and taken in open court, saith that Liveing Denwood being at his brothers (meaning brother-in-law) Mr. John Seavernes house all night, the said Seaverne went to prayers and the said Denwood asked him if he had learned to pray of this neighbor Travile. It was so ordered by the court that Liveing Denwood shall ask George Traviler forgiveness in open court for some scandalous words which he the said Denwood have raised upon the said Traveler and he is to pay 5 shillings which is to be disposed of by the Vestry and to pay all charges of court.

  	These may certify all whom it may concern, that Mr. William Kendall, one of the commissioners of Northampton County alias Accomack in Virginia, did upon the request of Capt. Jno. Stringer, by his letter to him written to make payment of what tobacco was due from him the said Stringer by obligation to Mr. Augustine Harman of Manhatus [Manhattan] merchant, so to his attorney; receive; or agent (appointed by this purpose) whereupon the said Mr. Kendall sent for Mr. Levin Denwood (one of the magistrates of the said county), and formerly agent for the receiving of said tobacco from said Capt. Stringer for the said Augustine, and the said Mr. Denwood refused (before me) to accept the tobacco; or any other goods equivalent to the said debt, of the said Stringer, saying that he had order from the said Augustine not to meddle, or act any further in the premises: This argued & done before me, Francis Pott. This certificate is subscribed by Capt. Francis Pott, one of the magistrates of the Quorum in Northampton County. Recorded in Northampton County 18 June 1657.
