- In May 1759 in N'hamp County Court, Elizabeth James, widow of Robert James petitions in behalf of William, Peggy, Robert, Michael & Bridget James children of the dec'd. The said Robert died intestate leaving several slaves: Glasgow, Cush, Daniel, Joshua, Dido, Abraham and Grace. The plea is for Thomas James, son and heir-at-law to the dec'd Robert to pay the above named children their shares of the slaves. Thomas James, an infant is represented by Nathaniel Savage, his guardian. He agrees to the division, after laying out the dower of the said Elizabeth. Case dismissed for want of prosecution.

To granddau. Bridget James n. Lydia. To my son George Seymour household items in the room of others that fell to him in the div. of his father's estate. To son William Seymour £40 and n. wench Agnes. To dau. Sarah Seymour. To dau. Mary Seymour £5 for schooling and my silver sugar tongs. If my three youngest children George, William, or Mary claim any interest for their cash that has been in my hands that fell to them by the death of their father, then I give them one shilling. Resid. legatees the six children Michael and William Christian, Elizabeth James, Susanna Luker, and William and Mary Seymour. Savage, Susage Wescoat wife of Hezekiah, John Savage, George Savage, Robert Rodgers, James Rodgers, Jane Rodgers, Edward Rodgers, Robert James, Peggy Savage, Rosey Johnson wife of Jeptha, William Addison of Thomas & Betsey Bunting.

- On 10 Sep 1832 it was recorded that Michael James, on whose estate John Addison administered in this Court, was a native of N'hamp Co, VA, where his relations and those entitled to distribution of his estate reside. He was a Lieutenant in the Navy of Virginia in the Rev. War and served to the end of the War. He was retired by the board of officers of Virginia in 1784. John Addison administered on the estate of the said Michael James with the approbation of the heirs entitled to distribution of the estate, for the express purpose of receiving from the State of Virginia the amount in money due in half for life for the said Michael James. John Addison appoints Thomas M. Bayly of the County of Accomack to receive money due to the estate from the United States under Act of Congress of 5 Jul 1832, entitled "An Act for liquidating & paying certain claims of the State of Virginia."

- On 13 May 1833 it was recorded that Michael James who was a Lieutenant in the Virginia State Navy in Rev. War died intestate, leaving one child who died shortly after the death of her father, an infant intestate & without issue. Michael James left no other child or descendant or any other child. The said Michael James left at his death the following brothers & sisters who are his heirs-at-law, and no other brothers or sisters or descendants of any other brother or sister: Bridget James & Susan Savage, formerly Susan James who were sisters of the whole blood to said Michael James; and five brothers & sisters of the half blood, viz: Thomas James, Robert James, Peggy Bool, Elizabeth Savage and John Ewing. Said Bridget James has lately died having devised her whole estate to John C. Mapp the younger, William W. Mapp, Alfred N.H. Mapp and Robins W.W. Mapp. Said Susan Savage has died intestate leaving as her heirs-at-law her children Michael Savage, Susanna, wife of Hezekiah P. Wescott, George Savage and Ann R. Rodgers. Said Ann R. Rodgers is since dead intestate leaving as her heirs-at-law her children Robert, James, Edward & Jane Rodgers. Said George Savage has also died intestate leaving as his heirs-at-law his children John & George. The said Thomas James has died intestate leaving as his heirs-at-law his children Elizabeth the wife of James Poulson, Cassanddra the wife John C. Mapp, Rosey the wife of Jeptha Johnson, Robert James, Ann Jacob, Petty Savage and one grandchild Margaret James the wife of John S. James who is the only child of his dec'd son William James. The said Robert James, the half brother of Michael James, has died intestate leaving the following heirs-at-law, viz: his children Thomas James & Ainsley Dennis, formerly Ainsley James, and the following grandchildren, viz: William Oague, who was the only child of his dec'd daughter Susan Oague, formerly Susan James, also Robert D. James, Abel James, Susan Dowty the wife of James Dowty, and one great grandchild, viz: Maria Scott, the only child of Maria Scott dec'd; the said Robert O. James, Abel James, Susan Dowty and Maria James Scott being the only children of Sally James, daughter of said Robert James & also the children of Arthur Addison, whose names are unknown to the Court, by his dec'd wife, who was another child of said Robert James. The said Peggy Bool has died intestate leaving three children, viz: Wm. Addison, Elizabeth Bunting & Robert Addison, the said Robert Addison has since died intestate leaving children whose names are unkown to the Court. The said John Ewing has since died intestate leaving Victor Ewing his only child & heir-at-law. The said Elizabeth Savage, the half sister of the said Michael James is now living.
