  	Dolcie Martin Godwin, 106, of Lee Mont and previously of Sanford, wife of the late Winfred James Godwin, passed away on April 7, 2023 at her daughter's residence in Lee Mont. Born on February 9, 1917 in Saxis, VA, she was the daughter of the late James Martin and Mary Stant Martin. Dolcie was a homemaker and was a dedicated member of Sanford United Methodist Church, Saxis UMC and Hall's Chapel Church. Dolcie is survived by two daughters, Brenda Carey of Lee Mont and Cindy Outten of Girdletree, MD; a son, Arthur James Godwin of Lee Mont; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great grandchildren and 1 great-great-great grandchild. Other than her parents and husband, Dolcie was preceded in death by a son, Van Godwin and a daughter, Karon Lee Smith. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at 11:00 AM from the Thornton Funeral Home with Wayne Hill officiating. Interment will follow in the John W. Taylor Cemetery in Temperanceville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sanford United Methodist Church. Arrangements are by the Thornton Funeral Home in Parksley, VA.
