  	It was in this year that John and Frances Burt sold 200 acres of this tract to John Shepheard; at the north, it was bounded on the east by the Forked Neck, and below that by the main Dawe's Branch down to the creek. A month later John Custis gave Shepheard a confirming deed. In 1707 John Shepherd deeded to his daughter Jean and her husband John Smith and then to their son John, calling it his home place. In 1761 the will of his grandson John Smith, wife Rebeccah, did not mention the land but it passed to a son Caleb. In 1803 he, wife Sally, left everything to a daughter Sally W. who married William P. Harmanson, whom she survived.

  	It was in this year that John Shepherd executed formal deeds to his daughters, to confirm their respective rights, conveying to his eldest daughter Ann, now the widow of Peter Watson, the 550 acres patented by William Jordan, and to his daughter Elizabeth Andrews (husband Robert) the 250 acres in N'hamp, tract N117. He made no mention of the 450 acres which had belonged to Mrs. Dorothy Jordan, but apparently Ann retained it under the will of her grandmother, so she now owned the entire 1,000 acres which comprised tract A2.
