  	In 1669 a patent was issued to Mrs. Ann Toft for 2,000 acres, but of tihs 300 acres were for a part of tract A121, leaving 1,700 acres for this tract. It became known Mattapany or Mattapany Neck, and in 1677 Daniel and Ann Jenifer sold it all to Maximilian Gore, who had married Joyce, the widow of John Smith of tract A9.

  	It was on this date that administration on the estate of John Smith was granted to Maxamillian Gore as marrying the relict of the said John.

  	In 1687 patent to Colonel Daniel Jenifer for 3,500 acres, being all of Assateague Island up to the Maryland Line. Two years later Jenifer sold to Maximilian Gore, who in 1696 (wife Joyce) left to his 3 son-in-law (stepsons) and a son, as follows: to James Smith, 500 acres, to John Smith, 500 acres, to Thomas Smith, 300 acres and to his son Daniel Gore the balance as residuary legatee.

To son in law James Smith 500 acres on Assateage Island, being part of 3005 acres purchased of Col. Jenifer. To son in law John Smith 500 acres on Assateage Island. To son in law Thomas Smith 300 acres on Assateage Island. To son in law Arthur Roberts. Son Daniel Gore residual legatee, he to maintain his mother during her natural life. Sons in law James Smith & John Purnell overseers. Son Daniel Ex'r. Witt: John Deane, James Walker, John Duberley.
