  	He was shown as a grandson John Crippen, son of Thomas & Elizabeth Crippen, in the will of Thomas Crippen. They were given 200 acres at the seaboard. Dispositions of both of these inheritances went through the General Court so what actually happened is uncertain; apparently a survey had been made and each part became 87 acres, and the division line seems to have been at right righ angles to the seaboard, young Thomas getting the north part.

  	According to Whitelaw, in 1758 when Patience Crippen sold 87 acres of land to Ralph Justice, she stated that it had been sold to Justice by her husband, and Whitelaw assumed that to be Robert Crippen. However, Leah Crippen settled Robert's estate in 1757, so Patience must have been the widow of Robert's brother John Crippen, as Whitelaw says the land was undoubtedly the John Crippen part, and noted that he could not find out how Robert had come by the land.
