  	Edmond Ayres first appears in Virginia recordson 28 Jan 1655/6 in Northampton County when he witnessed a depostion made by Mr. William Ayres, aged 28, concerning goods landed from a vessel and sold to Mr. William Kendall. He and William Ayres then sailed away.

  	It was on this date that Edmond Ayres was named twice on a list of 10 persons transported into the colony by William Knott who was granted 500 acres Northeasterly upon Petomeck River in the freshes above Anacosta, Southeasterly upon land called by him Vincent Cocks.

  	It was on this date that Edmond Ayres and Rich'd Ayres were listed among 10 persons brought into the colony by Richard Youell, orphan son of Mr. Tho. Youell, of Nomeny, when he was granted 500 acres Easterly upon the Petomeck River in the freshes & Southerly on land called Richard Holden's.

  	It was on this date that Mr. Edmond Ayres was granted 500 acres in Northumberland County begining at the West corner of George Watt's land between the branches of the head of Machoatick & Nominy Rivers by land of Mr. Hawkins, dec'd for transporting 10 persons. According to Ayres, Dawson & Allied Families, this land was in the present county of Westmoreland and there was no record of his selling it, nor was there any evidence of his continuous occupancy of it for any definite length of time after purchasing it. He does not appear to have died anywhere in Virginia or Maryland.

  	On 9 Nov 1670 in Westmoreland County an Edmond Ayres is named in Henry Brett's list of Debts. The estate of Brett was insufficient to his debts and his widow, Ann (-----) Brodhurst-Brett, married 3rd Col. John Washington as his second wife and the Colonel aided in paying up the debts.
