  	Rationale for merging Sarah (--?--) record ID 58633 into Sarah Poulson record ID 58708: Under SMITH (Richard), p. 202, paragraph 17, Dorman (Adventurers of Purse and Person, Vol 3) says that John Bradford (of William) “married Sarah_____” and references in footnote 62 an Accomack Co. Land Cause 1773-1805, p. 149. From a careful review of the referenced land cause, It is clear (contrary to Dorman) that the John Bradford referred to in this land cause, whose wife Sarah Bradford “has since to wit the first day of Jany 1793 been widowed,” and who “being in his lifetime indebted to sundry persons in considerable sums of money” could not be the same John Bradford, son of William & Bridget Bradford, who died before 30 June 1784 (administration of estate). Not only was the latter John Bradford wealthy, being possessed of considerable real property, but in a deed dated 23 Jan 1784, John Bradford and Margaret Bradford his wife sold to son Arthur Bradford 50 acres of John’s plantation. In addition, the referenced land cause also mentions “That your Oratrix hath since to wit the . . . day of February 1793 purchased of a certain Tully Snead who had before purchased of sd. Sarah Bradford all the Dower of sd. Sarah in the Houses & lotts afs’d. except a store house, which had been allotted to her in her Dower, & now in possession of sd. Tully Snead, for which your Oratrix hath p’d. the sum of £12” That Tully Snead appears to be the same Tully Snead to whom on 28 Sep 1791 “ Sarah Bradford, relict of John of the Borough of Norfolk, relinquished . . . all her right, title and interest to her dower of the houses and lots in Onancock Town … held in right of her deceased husband John Bradford” mentioned in the 28 Sep 1791 Land Sold event set forth above. Based upon the foregoing, the referenced land cause appears to refer to John Bradford, a saddler (and the son of Bayly Bradford) who was married to Sarah Poulson who is the subject of this MILESFILES entry ID 58708.
