- In his will Raymond Taylor gave to wife Nancy Taylor my Negro girl Scarburgh, but not her increase. To wife the land where I now live & after her death or widowhood, then to son Samuel M. Taylor the land where I now live containing 100 acres that was John Taylor's adjoining heirs of Alexander West, the lands of Charles Rew & the Poor House. Also to son Samuel my Negro woman Roos. To daughter Sarah Ann Taylor $100 when she arrives at age 18 or marries, Negro girl Esther & ... To daughter Nancy J. Taylor $100 when she arrives to 18 years & also Negro girl Marthew & ... To son Henry B. Taylor 46 ½ acres I bought of Esther Evans & 7 acres adjoining Thomas Hickman, blacksmith & 1 acre I bought of Betsy Dix that was my father's & also Negro boy Spencer. To my daughters Sarah & Nancy my Negro boy Thomas to be hired out until they come of age. Wife Nancy Taylor to have the use of all my property to school my 3 female children. - parts of pages 2,3 of 69: "The said James T. Copes departed this life intestate and Administration of his Estate was granted by this Court to Nancy Taylor. The said Nancy Taylor departed this life on the day of 1823 and administration de bonis non of the Estate of afsd James T. Copes was granted by this Court to Samuel M Taylor...The said James T Copes at his death left no children or parents living but left two sisters Sally Copes and the sd Nancy Taylor and no other sisters nor any brother The said tract of land descended in parcenary to the sd Sally Copes & said Nancy Taylor and on the death of sd Nancy Taylor her moirty thereof descended in parcenary to her children Samuel M Taylor, Henry B Taylor Sarah A Taylor & Nancy J Taylor..." page 5, Samuel M Taylor responds as guardian of Sarah Ann, Nancy J & Henry B Taylor, infants [1825]. - page 2: "To the Worshipful Justices of Accomack County in Chancery sitting, Humbly complaining shew unto your worships, your orator, and oratrix, Jacob M. Ross and Sarah Ann Ross his wife, of the said County, that a certain Samuel M. Taylor departed this life on or about the day of 1830...That the said testator at the time of his death left the following persons, to wit: Your Oratrix, Henry Taylor, and Nancy Taylor, his heirs at law. That since the death of the said testator, your Oratrix intermarried with a certain Southey G. Milliner of said County. That on the day of Nancy, wife of Southey G. Milliner departed this life leaving the following children, to wit: James H, Samuel, Tabitha, and Southey S. Milliner. That since the death of the said testator, your orator purchased of the said Henry Taylor, all his right, title and interest in the reversion of the land so devised...That the same was conveyed to your orator, by deed of bargain and sale, bearing date the 26th day of September 1836..." page 5 is Samuel's will; page 7 is the 1836 deed, Henry B. Taylor to Jacob M. Ross, which notes the land was that belonging to his father, Raymond Taylor, and given to Samuel, "within one fourth of a mile of the Poor House of this County". [3]
