- Levin was living in Baltimore, MD in 1818. He was at Woodville, MS on May 3, 1830. Between 1833 and 1850, he obtained US patents to 53,542 acres in Louisiana and Mississippi in 19 counties astride the entire length of the Mississippi River which borders both states. He owned five cotton plantations and was a prominent Natchez banker. A Benjamin G. Marshall was co-patentee with Levin on US patents dated September 30, 1835 for land in Warren Co., MS. A Levin Rothrock patented land in the same area in 1837. 1860 Slave Schedule, Madison Co., Louisiana, many slaves at Cabin Teel Plantation. 1860 census, Pound Ridge Post Office, Pelham, Westchester Co., NY. 1870 census, Pelham, Westchester Co., NY.

- Levin was living in Baltimore, MD in 1818. He was at Woodville, MS by May 3, 1830. One of Levin's homes was about a mile south of Natchez, which he called "Richmond." Another was "Lansdowne*," which he gifted to his daughter. He had a summer home at Pelham, NY. (notes of Thornton W. Marshall)
*Landsdowne Plantation, Natchez, MS still stands and is a historic site and used as bed & breakfast and event venue.

NY, merchant; wife Sarah, age 47; son George, 24, merchant; son Le R Jr, age 20, clerk; daughter, Mary, age 19; daughter Josephine, age 17; son John, 10; son Duncan, age 14, a gardner, coachman and three domestics were in the household. His son, William St. John Elliot was a couple houses away, living in the household of Richard Morris, his father-in-law.
The 1860 Slave Schedule, Madison Co., Louisiana, shows a Levin R. Marshall with many slaves at Cabin Teel Plantation.
