- The family Bible of Robert's son, Charles, had a piece of note paper inside with information about his father. It reads that Robert was born "in Somerset County Md., on the old Marshall homestead, situated on the left bank of the Pocomoke River opposite Cedar Hall, on July third, 1813. - Known to family as "Uncle Bob," Robert was a miller, mariner, hotel keeper and restaurant keeper.
The family Bible of Robert's son, Charles, had a piece of note paper inside with letterhead "Chosen Friends Lodge, No 100, I.O.O.F., Meets Every Tuesday Evening, Broad & Spring Garden Sts., Philadelphia, 1889. Noted on this paper was information Charles evidently wrote about his father. It reads that Robert was born "in Somerset County Md., on the old Marshall homestead, situated on the left bank of the Pocomoke River opposite Cedar Hall, on July third, 1813. Died 1886 at Crisfield, Somerset County, aged 73 years, 6 months in 1886."
Note: A picture marked Robert H. Marshall and Elizabeth was found in a box marked 'family photographs' by the great grandson of Littleton Sturgis. The features of this Robert H., were compared to a photo of Charles Thomas Marshall by his great granddaughter. A penciled entry in the family Bible of Charles W. B. Marshall, noted that Ella Marshall had married Littleton Sturgis. An Ella Marshall and Alexene Marshall were both mentioned in the diary of Ida Marshall Lankford (daughter of Charles Thomas) and it was discovered that Alexene used the name Ella and she had married Littleton Sturgis. This all confirmed that Robert Henry and Charles Thomas were brothers, sons of Robert Nairn Marshall.

- Henry's father, Robert Nairn Marshall, left "Tarso" to Robert Henry in his 1814 will. In 1838 Robert deeded part of "Tarso" to Samuel D. Milbourne. He later sold another part "Tarso" to an Isaac T. Marshall, (Clerk and court records researched by C. Hayward Marshall, Sr. & William Marshall Scott)
