  	It may have been him who was shown as Hugh Baker on a list of persons transported by John Baker who was granted 650 acres of land upon the Appamattock River. Part of the grant was for John Baker's first wife Priscilla Palmer and his mother-in-law Jone Palmer and his late wife Alice and his now wife Dorothy.

  	He was shown as Hugh Baker, who owed 170 lbs tobacco to the estate of Jno. Webster dec'd, as delivered in court by Wm. Muns.

  	Hugh Baker was one of 12 men appointed by Capt. John Stringer to view the corpse of John Charles. They found that his death was his own act by shooting off his gun.

  	Upon the complaint of Kathryn the wife of Lewis White, Ensign, that William Kendall (now servant unto Mrs. Mary Drew widow (upon command of Hugh Baker overseer of the said Mrs. Drew her servants, had lately beaten an Indian (servant to the said Ensign White) where up he is run away to the Indians toward (which hath occasioned much presence for want of his service). It is therefore ordered that the said Hugh Baker shall fetch the Indian and return him to his master Ensign White and pay court charges. (NOTE: This William Kendall later became Col. William Kendall and married among others Susannah Baker, whose relationship to this Hugh Baker has not been proven.)

  	He was shown as Hugh Baker who saith that Mr. Franics Pettit dec'd bought one Wm. Wright (now servent to Lt. Col. Obedience Robins, of Capt. Wm. Stone Esq, about 4 years since this deponent coming to the said Mr. Pettit his house when he bought the servent home, asked him, how long Wm. Wright had to serve Mr. Pettitt answered 4 years. Capt. Stone would sell him for no more but 4 years (because he had no indenture) and if there should be any indenture found Mr. Pettitt and Capt. Stone would talk further of it .

  	He was shown as Hugh Baker who sayth that Wm. Cottman, Tho: the Dutchman, & Mr. Tho: Younge came to his house (frozen & cast awaye) in Lt. Jno. Savage's boat in December last and being in a most sad condidtion. Mr. Cottman did sweare extreame bloody oathes that his brother Savage's boat was a leakey bitch and he had told him often times she would drown one or other. (NOTE: Wm. Munns was also deposed this same day.)
