  	Daniel Towles was bound to appear to answer for the “maintainance, education & bringing up” of Comfort Taylor’s illegitimate child; Towles was said to be the father. Kendal Towles (father of Daniel) appeared on Daniel’s behalf. With the assent of Geo. Douglas (attorney for the church wardens of Accomack Parish) Kendal posted £50:00:00 (to save the parish from supporting the child) and paid court costs.

  	The will and codicil of Kendal Towles (decd) was proved by Geo. Douglas and Daniel Marshal; executor and heir Daniel Towles (temporary guardian Robt. Carruthers) consented. After Litt. Scarburgh Major entered court, Daniel Martial, Richard Smith, Abraham Heath and Peter Martial (or three of them) were ordered to appraise the estate.

  	Before his death, Daniel Towles had sold 150 acres of this tract to Nathaniel Benson, but no deed had been given, and Benson had left 50 acres to this son William and the balance to his son James. In 1784 Peter and Patience Marshall, Levin and Rebecca Merrill, Abraham and Nanny Hill, Isaiah and Esther Fiddeman, and Thomas and Elizabeth Alexander joined in deeds to William and James Benson to bring the matter up tod date.
