  	It was on this date that John Stringer and Nicholas Granger witnessed the will of Nicholas Harwood, who named a godson Nicholas Granger and gave him 500 lbs tobacco. He also wanted a debt to be paid Mr. Stringer for my phisicke and to Goodman Grainger for my dyett and attendance.

  	In his will Edward Ginkins directed all his debts in Northampton County to be satisfied, viz., to Mr. William Burwell 100#t, to Mr. Stringer 100#t, to William Stanley 10#t, to William Munns for 3 months work, to Jeffrey Minshall 40#t, and to John Peniwell one heyfer. Debts due to me from Thomas Savidge, from Thomas Dymor, from my brother Pettit two barrels of corne one of which I give to my brother Pettit and the other to John Savidge, from William Stephens as much kersey as will make a pair of mittens to be made for me by the said Jeffery. There is one heyfer of mine in John Little's field, and another in Savidge his neck. To Edward Daniel one pair of shoes and stockings. Remaining estate to William Burwell, Gent. Witt: John Prittyman, James Redwood.

  	These may certify all whom it may concern, that Mr. William Kendall, one of the commissioners of Northampton County alias Accomack in Virginia, did upon the request of Capt. Jno. Stringer, by his letter to him written to make payment of what tobacco was due from him the said Stringer by obligation to Mr. Augustine Harman of Manhatus [Manhattan] merchant, so to his attorney; receive; or agent (appointed by this purpose) whereupon the said Mr. Kendall sent for Mr. Levin Denwood (one of the magistrates of the said county), and formerly agent for the receiving of said tobacco from said Capt. Stringer for the said Augustine, and the said Mr. Denwood refused (before me) to accept the tobacco; or any other goods equivalent to the said debt, of the said Stringer, saying that he had order from the said Augustine not to meddle, or act any further in the premises: This argued & done before me, Francis Pott. This certificate is subscribed by Capt. Francis Pott, one of the magistrates of the Quorum in Northampton County. Recorded in Northampton County 18 June 1657.

  	Capt. Jno Stringer, filed his Accounts, Debtr & Credr, charged to Major (General) Edward Gibbons. The account showed items for Mr. Walker, Mr. Stranguidge, Mr. Gerrard in Maryland & 3 years & 6 months board & schooling for my son (3,500 lbs tobacco). It was received by Capt. Francis Pott & Mr. Wm. Kendall, lawfull Attorneyes of the Admrs of Major (General) Edward Gibbons on 29 Dec 1657 from Capt. Jno. Stringer, the full & just sume of 1,052 lbs tobacco (which was the balance of the above account) & is in full of all Bills, Bonds, Dues, specialties, or any manner of claim whatsoever from the beginning of the world unto this present day from the said Major Edward Gibbons, his hiers, Extrs or Admrs, we say received by us in full 1,052 lbs tobacco the day & year first above written. Signed: Francis Pott & Wm. Kendall. This account with the discharge underwritten was presented (in open court) 29 Dec 1657 by Capt. Jno Stringer & ordered to be recorded.

  	Mary Andrews was placed under the care of Lt. Col. John Stringer after her mother's death which was before 19 Feb 1659/60. Her mother was Mary Stringer, who had a brother Stephen Stringer and a brother John Stringer.

  	My body to be buried in my orchard with my dear dec'd wife and my tender children. All my moveable estate to be eq. div. by my son Hillary Stringer, my dau. Frances Mosely, and my dau. Ann Thoroughgood, with Hillary to have first choice. My friends Thomas Harmanson, Sr. and (Maj.) John Robins to make the div. To son Hillary the 400 A. where I now live. To my grandson John Stringer son of Hillary 600 A. at the head of Ochohanock Creek purchased by me from William Taylor dec'd as by patent and sale recorded in Accomack County Court. To grandson Hillary Stringer son of Hillary 600 A., part of 1000 A. also purchased from the said Taylor by record in Accomack County. To grandson Thomas Stringer son of Hillary the 400 A. remainder of the 1000 A. My said three grandsons to receive their land when 21, but in case their father dies before they are of such lawful age and their mother remarries, then my sons Edward Mosely and John Thoroughgood to have the management of the said land for the profit of my grandsons. Mosely regarding her dec'd husband Taylor's estate, not to be regarded as part of her present division. To my son Hillary my 1000 A. of lease land for the term of the 99 year lease. For this lower parish of Northampton County (when the new church is built), 1000#t for the purchasing of the Lord's Prayer and the Ten Commandments to be set up in the same. Son Hillary extr. My extr. to build a brick wall around my burial place in the orchard where his mother and other relations lye.
