- In his will Abel West (shown as Sr. at settlement) gave Revell West heirs: John R. West, Revell West & Meriah Nock dec'd heirs, my land lying on Deep Creek containing 400 acres in lieu of the land I now live on, which was an agreement between me & my brother Anthony in his life. To Eliza Harmanson, daughter of Mathew, all my land upon Occohannock containing 170 acres, with the condition that within 6 months of her arrival at lawful age 21, she execute a deed conveying to Edward Bayly, son of Edward, all her right in the plantation formerly belonging to her grandfather Edmund Bayly dec'd laying on Craddock. Also to Eliza Harmanson £300 on same condition as above & if Eliza dies before age 21 or fails to execute conveyance of the land, then land on Occohannock & £300 to Edward Bayly & if Edward dies before he arrives to age 21, then the land & money to J. T. K. Joynes. To my Negro woman Nelly 2 acres on Occohannock next to creek adjoining Mrs. Galt's during her life. To Amelia M. Bayly £300 under conditions that she release the benefit of the legacies under the will of her father & if she dies before arriving at lawful age, then to Charlotte Bayly. To Jonathan Rowles £300 ... Anthony West should manage Jonathan Rowles property for him. To Anthony West whatever he may be indebted to me more than £100. My land on Deep Creek Mill Branch, called Mary Branch, containing 200 acres to Isaac West & Margaret West during their lives & at their death to John West, son of Isaac. To Benjamin Colonna ... To Ann Kellam ... To Edward Bayly, son of Edward, £300 at lawful age & if he dies before, then to Charlotte Bayly. To all the Negroes which belonged to me the land laying above the Neck Road, supposed to be 200 acres, it being part of the land where I now live to them & their heirs forever on the female side in common among them all as a place of refuge & also 30 barrels of corn & 1,000 weight of pork, all the flax, wool & leather that may be in the house at my death. To my men Joshua, Will, Sam, Parker, Edmund & Adams $40 each should they finish the crop. To Charlotte Bayly my land & plantation where I now live below the Neck Road containing 30 acres which I bought of Thomas Teackle. Also to Charlotte the balance. John G. Joynes to hold all the property given to Eliza Harmanson until she arrives at age 21. Friends Charlotte Bayly & John G. Joynes Extrs. Witt: Peter Hack, Luther Kellam & John F. West. Codicil: (Undated) To Littleton Upshur a bond given him … To William Tolace(?) a bond given him for £30 … delivered to Edward Bayly for collection for which I have not received anything delivered the 4 Jan 1814. The within account against Edward Bayly is to be considered a payment to his son Edward Bayly in part of the money given him in my will of 22 May 1816. Witt: Peter Hack, Luther Kellam & John F. West. Prob: Thomas R. Joynes, George D. Wise & William E. Wise securities on the $30,000 bond.

In inventory legacies to Jonathan Rowles, to Benjamin Colonna & to Ann Kellam. Appraisers: Christopher Satchell, Peter Hack & Anthony West. Named in settlement: paid to Edward Bayly legacy, in presence of Miss Charlotte Bayly the residuary legatee of Abel West. Auditors: George Scarburgh & Samuel Waples. A list of property delivered to Miss Charlotte Bayly by J. G. Joynes Extr. of Abel West dec'd. On 16 Jun 1816 Charlotte Bayly acknowledged receipt of $2,161.25 in property from her uncle Abel West's estate. On 7 Jun 1821 Charlotte Bayly acknowledged receipt of $4,226.06 in full for the balance of the estate of Abel West dec'd.

- Whitelaw calls it Cedar Grove or the Charlotte Bayly Place. His epitaph: In memory of Abel West, was born at this place, May 30, 1734 and died May 30, 1816, thus completing the 82 years of his life, Respected by all for his Virtues and Morality.
