  	According to the Turman research, it was on this date that Richard Bayly had assigned to Elizabeth Smith and Valentine Smith, her husband for £100 current money a 300-acre tract of land on Messongo Creek. The land was entailed in that Valentine was to have a life interest if his wife predeceased him. The land was to go to the lawful heirs of their body. According to Whitelaw, in his discussion of tract A150, Richard Bayly deeded the eastern 300 acres entailed to Elizabeth and Valentine Smith; the later died intestate in 1731 and his estate was administered to Roger Miles, who may have married Elizabeth, but a son Bayly Smith was the heir-at-law. In 1797 Bayly Smith (wife Elizabeth) left 100 acres each to his sons Spencer and Ralph and the balance to son Zorallingtine (Valentine?). A survey ten years later revealed that his was the eastern part of the whole tract, and that the last-named son received 197 acres, which included a small creek frontage and a little above the road, while the other two sons' lands were above him, with Spencer's part to the eastward. (Note: This land is in the present area know as Marsh Market on Messongo Creek.)

  	It is assumed that she died before Roger Miles and Anne Parker were summoned for incontinent living and that Anne Parker was the mother of his children, especially of Parker Miles, and that Roger had a third wife named Elizabeth who contested his will without success.

  	According to Turman, Roger Miles married Elizabeth Smith, widow of Valentine Smith, probably before May 1728. Elizabeth had one son, Bayly Smith, who eventually inherited his parents' land, but it appears that Roger and Elizabeth reared their family there. On 11 Feb 1724 Richard Bayly (possible father of Elizabeth) had assigned to Elizabeth Smith and Valentine Smith, her husband, for £100 current money, a 300-acre tract of land on the north side of Messongo Creek. The land was entailed in that Valentine was to have a life interest if his wife predeceased him. The land was to go to the lawful heirs of their "body." Elizabeth was not mentioned in the 19 Apr 1726 will of Richard Bayly which was probated 4 Jun 1728. The date of Valentine's death was not determined, but his administration was granted to Roger Miles on 5 Oct 1731. (NOTE: The fact that Richard Bayly assigned 300 acres to Elizabeth & Valentine Smith and entailed it to their heirs seems proof enough that she was Richard's daughter. Having done so, he had no reason to provide further for her in his will.)
