- Richard Summers served as a private in the Somerset Militia, Salisbury Battn., Capt. Sampson Wheatly's Company. On 29 Sep 1851 Elizabeth Summers, widow of Richard Summers, dec'd made a declaration. She states she (former name was Elizabeth Lewis) married Richard Summers and they lived as husband and wife until his death on 7 July past. She heard him speak of his services in the militia during the War: his brother Horsey Summers, served with him. Her husband served, she believes, over two years. Her husband live on the Virginia (Accomack County)/Maryland line during the Rev. War, on the Maryland side, and crossed over into Accomack and was married there by Rev. George H. Ewell and resided there until he died, in his 91 year. Certificate from Rev. Ewell, acquainted with Richard Summers for the last 60 years.

- Richard Sumers of Accomack County sells to Mary Sumers, daughter of Betsy Hickman, of Somerset County, Maryland, for $100, all the remaining part of the land which was given me by my father, Isaac Somers, dec'd, in his will which is not this day conveyed by deed and to Betsy Hickman. (The land) known by whatever name or names the same may be called. Signed: Richard (his X mark) Hickman. Acknowledged before William Roach, Henry Ward, Justices of the Peace for Somerest Couty. (NOTE: Isaac's will stipulated that Richard his son, who is without heirs at the time of the writing of the will, can will the land left to him to those brothers and sisters he feels are deserving, or to their heirs if the parent is dead.)

"given to me by my father Isaac Somers, deceased" in Somerset County and in Little Annamessex, beginning at the mouth of a gut issuing out of Appeshole Creek being a division between said land and Job Moore thence running westerly with said Moore land and Aaron Sterling's land and southerly with John Sterling's land so far as will contain one half of the said land in a long square line easterly down to the aforesaid creek." To my wife Elizabeth Somers all the lands whereon I now reside & my Negro man Levin & my woman Rachel & her 3 children John, George & Sarah & their future increase & the remainder of my property. Wife & John R. Drummond Extrs. Witt: George S. Rew, Major East & Samuel Lewis of John. Prob: Elizabeth Somers refused to qualify as Extr. in writing & it was proved by Augustus W. Bagwell a witness thereto, but desires that John R. Drummond qualify as such. Lewis D. Drummond & Edward Gunter were his securities.

- His tombstone show him as Ridard Summers, who died 7 Jul 1851, aged 81. This cemetery is due south of Justisville, back in a dense thicket. The entrance is on Wonney Rew Road (route 673).
