  	In his verbal will, William Northam gave to son William land purchased of Southy Northam. To daughter Nanny Northam. The things conveyed me by Thomas Northam to remain in his possession during his life. Proved by John Northam and Rachel Northam. In the order of probate, John Northam qualified. (NOTE: After spending much time trying to sort out the first few generations of the Northam family on and off for many years, and without clear documentaton, it is assumed that the Thomas Northam named in this will was the testator's brother, that the Southy Northam named in this will was the son of his brother Thomas, and the John Northam who proved the will and settled the estate was also a son of his brother Thomas. Evidently the sale of the land purchased of Southy Northam, which he gave to his son William (evidently under age), had not been finalized and recorded as the next year (June 1759) the land was conveyed from Southy to William of Wm dec'd (age about 17 or younger). Then in Jan 1762 William of Wm dec'd (about age 20 or younger) chose Southy (his older cousin) as his guardian. Then in Dec 1766 William died (about age 24 or younger) and Thomas Northam (his uncle) was named administrator.)

  	Southy Northam and Rebecca his wife of Accomack County sold to William Northam, the son of William dec'd of the same County, for 30 pounds currant money of Virginia a certain parcel of land in the County aforesaid being part of that tract of Land that William Bravans and Andrew Gilchrist and John Northam holds in the Swamp the same part that was conveyed to Southy Northam by Abbot Warrington containing 60 acres and Southy Northam has a good and indefisable Estate in fee simple and hath lawfull authority to convey the same to the said William Northam. The said Southy Northam and Rebecca Northam his wife have here unto set their hands and seals the day and year first above written. Both Southy & Rebecca Northam signed with their marks. The said Rebecca being first privately examined as the Law discharged.
