Biography |

- There is no direct proof that Samuel was the son of Thomas Simpson Sr. as he was not named in Thomas' will of 6 Jan 1725/6. However, one explanation for not being named in his father will this is that Samuel, through his marriage to Sarah, daughter of Peter Parker, had previously acquired land in a division of Peter Parker's estate in 1710. Samuel's inherited land was in the immediate vicinity of his father's land and adjoining the tracts of his assumed brothers. See Whitelaw's tracts A95, A103 and A104.

Will - Named in Brother-in-laws will |
16 Dec 1720 |
Accomack County, Virginia, USA [3] |
- It was on this date that he was named, along with Henry Custis and the wife of Thomas Copes, as executor of the estate of Thomas Copes. The will indicates that Samuel Simpson has a 'now wife' Sarah, but does not state that Sarah is a daughter of Thomas Copes. Copes leaves clothes that belonged to a deceased daughter Mary to Sarah Simpson. Whitelaw, p. 1064, reveals that Mary Copes and Sarah Simpson were sisters.

Marriage |
Abt 1710 [1] |
- As a result of his marriage to Sarah, daughter of Peter Parker, Samuel Simpson acquired a portion of Whitelaw's tract A95, which is adjacent to and on the south side of A103, which is in turn adjacent to and on the east side of A104. Thomas Simpson, Sr. and most of the other Simpson of the 1700's were living on or near these two tracts. Samuel's portion succeeded to a son Laban in 1760, who seven years later (wife Esther Barnes of William) left to his son Hancock Simpson.
