  	He bought 200 acres of Whitelaw's tract A105, which is just south of the present town of Parksley, from Peter Cornelius. In 1751, Thomas Simpson, son of William (brother of Thomas Jr.), gave a quitclaim deed to Southy Simpson, son of Thomas (Jr.). The deed stated that their fathers William and Thomas (Jr.) had bought the 200 acres jointly from Peter Cornelius, but that the deed had been made out to Thomas Simpson (Jr.) alone, and that he had died before a division had been made with his brother William. The latter had brought suit for such a division against Southy, son and heir of Thomas (Jr.), but William also had died before any settlement was made. The cousins now made an agreement, and Thomas released to Southy any interest in the land he might have inherited.

  Anecdote	He (wife Rhody) died intestate, leaving a son Southy as heir-at-law, and the widow married Peter Parker Copes. In 1755 Southy and wife Comfort Simpson sold 220 acres of the Thomas Simpson Jr. part of Whitelaw's tract A104 to John Dix, Jr., who at the same time sold an inheritance from tract A103 to Simpson, so the two sales were in the nature of an exchange. In 1756 John and Leah Dix sold 100 acres to Mack Williams Wright, it being the eastern end of John's land, including the strip extending to the highway, so he apparently had settled on the western part.
