- In his will Elijah Watson of St. George Parish gave grandson Elijah Floyd, son of Berry Floyd dec'd, the plantation whereon I now live bounded by the county road until it comes to John Husley(?)'s shop & adjoining Edmond Downing's land, with the condition that Elijah Floyd convey to his older brother Benjamin Floyd the right to his father Berry Floyd's land. To grandson John Floyd, son of Berry Floyd dec'd, the land I lately bought of Richard D. Bayly containing 140 acres & also 40 acres I bought of William Underhill, with the condition (same as for Elijah Floyd). To grandson Michael Underhill, son of James Underhill, my plantation formerly belonging to Meshack Watson containing 280 acres. To grandson Obedience Johnson, son of John Johnson, the rents of all my houses & lands in Bell Haven, beginning at John Husley's shop & runing northwesterly until it strikes Edmond Downing's'land … & at Obedience's death the houses & land to his oldest son & if no sons, then to his daughter or daughters & if no children, then to grandson Benjamin Floyd, son of Berry Floyd dec'd. Also to grandson Obedience Johnson $1,000 to be deposited in the hands of Capt. Frederick Floyd to be paid to Obedience as necessary ... To my daughter Betsey Ventress(?) $1,000. To granddaughter Mary Underhill, daughter of James Underhill, $1,000. To James Underhill & grandson Elijah Floyd my Petteager(?) (boat) at the Sea Side. To John P. Johnson $20. To James Underhill Negro man Jake. To daughter Sally Floyd Negro man Isaac. My old Negro woman Dice should live on the plantation & be supported by my grandson Elijah Floyd. To grandchildren Benjamin, Elijah & John Floyd, sons of Berry Floyd, Michael & Mary Underhill, children of James Underhill & Obedience Johnson, son of John P. Johnson, the balance of my Negroes. Grandson Elijah Floyd (to provide) his mother Sally Floyd her home at this plantation during her life or widowhood. To daughter Sally Floyd … To daughter Nancy Underhill … Balance to be sold & the monies to my daughters Sally Floyd & Nancy Underhill, grandchildren Benjamin Floyd, Elijah Floyd, John Floyd, Michael Underhill & Mary Underhill.
