The deeds states that his land, called Brickhouse, belonged to a James Ewell, the grandfather of the James Ewell who was selling his 1/3 interest. This leads to the conclusion that Henry Hickman's wife was Susannah Ewell, who died between 1745 and 1746. (NOTE: Carey shows James Ewell was the grandfather of the James Ewell selling the land and Whitelaw shows he was the father.)
