  	Mr. Clarence P. Lankford, a member of one of Somerset county's oldest and most prominent families, died in a hospital in Pueblo, CO, Friday morning of last week, after a long illness. Mr. Lankford had been one of the leading attorneys of the Eastern Shore for more than half a century and practiced law in Crisfield for about fifty years. In 1942 he retired from the practice of law and he and Mrs. Lankford moved to Pueblo, CO and made their home with their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Jay J. Martin. He was born Feb. 8th, 1864 in Baltimore, the son of the late Henry S. and Mary D. Lankford. He attended the public schools in Somerset county and then entered Washington College at Chestertown, where he studied law and on his graduation there, was admitted to the Maryland Bar and was a charter member of the Maryland Bar Association. He was the oldest living alumnus of Washington College at the time of his death. He came to Crisfield and opened his office for the practice of his profession in the early 1890's and on December 12, 1894 was married to Miss E. Estelle Marshall of Princess Anne and they made their home here until his retirement in 1942. Mr. Lankford was a man of high moral character and took a leading part in civic activities here. From the time he came to Crisfield until the day he left he helped build the community and to obtain better things for it. Mr. Lankford was a modest man, a loyal and ardent friend, conservative in his views, patriotic in principle, courageous in action. His body was cremated and his ashes will later be brought to his old home in Princess Anne for interment. He was survived by his widow, one daughter Mrs. Jay J. Martin and a sister Mrs. Benjamin J. Barnes of Westover, MD

The bride entered the church with her brother, Rush P. Marshall, of Philadelphia. They were preceded by the ushers, Robert P. Maddox and Gordon Tull, of Princess Anne; S. N.
