- In his will Joseph Gouty Sr gave to wife Ann Couty my dwelling plantation called Calias, for and during the time of her widowhood or day of her death and then to son Jacob Couty at the age of 16. To wife Ann all personal estate but if she should marry then to her 1/3 part and the remainder unto son Jacob Gouty at age 16. To son Andrew Couty 200 acres of land originally called Calias commonly called Loar (or Boar) Landing. To eldest son John Gouty all that ridge of land called Halls(?) Ridge and all the land that appertains unto me lying on the southwest side of the said ridge. To daughter Lucy Couty one tract of land called Chance containing 50 acres. To youngest son John Couty all that tract originally called Borebrook containing 100 acres and all the land that appertains unto me between the said Borebrook and Blackwater River. To daughters Eliz. Shorter, Mary Robinson, Ruth Gouty, Rosannah Gouty, Triphena Gouty, Lucy Gouty and Elenor Gouty, each of them 1 shilling. To son Joseph one shilling and none of my estate or real(?). Wife, Extrx.
