  	According to Dorman, a son was born to William Perry & his first wife "Mrs. Perry" and shown as "infans Perry," between the massacre of 22 March 1621/2 and the census of 1623/24. Dorman said 'infans" meant son and assumed he died young and William Perry had another son, Henry, by his second wife Izabella (Smyth) Pace, who married 3rd George Menefie, who named a son-in-law (meaning stepson) Henry Perry in his will. However, Henry Perry was shown as Henry Perry, Gent., when he repatented the tract "Buckland" in 1642, which seems to imply he was of age according to his title of Gentleman. Being a son of William Perry by his second wife Izabella would have made him too young to have been of age in 1642. Being a son by William Perry's first unnamed wife is also consistent with Capt. Francis Pott's will of 1658 in N'hamp Co, giving "my cousin (nephew) (Capt.) Henry Perry and his wife, my dear friend Mrs. Elizabeth Perry £3 sterling."

  	Dorman shows that William Perry came to Virginia in 1611, but as he returned to England following the massacre of 22 March 1621/22 on business for the Coloney, he was not listed in the census of 1623/24 or in the muster of 1624/25. "Mrs. Perry" and "infans Perry," however, along with Francis Chapman, were at James City, 1623/24. Dorman also states that "infans" usually means son.

  	In the 1626 list of patents sent to England, William Perry is credited with 100 acres in the Corporation of Henrico. His patent for the plantation known as "Buckland" on the north side of the James River is of record, 19 Sep 1633 and is referred to in a repatent to his son, 1637.

  	Henry Perry, Gent., son & heir of Capt. William Perry, Esqr., late of Va, dec'd, renewed his patent for this tract and added 1500 acres by assignment from George Menefie of his right for transporting thirty persons, makeing a total of 3500 acres in the "Buckland" tract. Being a neck of land between the old mans Cr. & Herring Cr. rising into the woods as far as said Creeks ebb and flow, and also 227 acres of Sunken Marsh and Swampe.

  	In his will George Menefie directed that "the ship Desire, now lying before "Buckland" be dispatched for England," and bequeathed to "my daughter Elizabeth Menefie all my lands at Westover, at James City and at York River." The will further directed that Menefie's house at "Buckland" be a "joint stock between my daughter Elizabeth and my son-in-law [stepson] Henry Perry," named his wife Mary Extrx and guardian to his daughter, and requested that he be buried at Westover.

  	He was a member of the House of Burgesses 1652 and 1654-55 and a member of the Council, 1655-61.

  	In his will Fran Pott (wife Susanna) gave to cousin (Capt.) Henry Perry and his wife, my dear friend, Mrs. Elizabeth Perry £3 sterling. (NOTE: Capt. Henry Perry m(1) Elizabeth (2) Menefie and m(2) Elizabeth (9) Clements by 16 Mar 1657/58. Since Capt. Pott was some distance from Capt. Henry Perry who was across the Bay and up the James River in Charles City Co when Pott wrote his will on 5 Aug 1658, perhaps he didn't hear of the first wife Elizabeth's death. It is assumed that it was Elizabeth (2) Menefie who was Pott's dear friend, the daughter of George (1) Menefie, as Pott had work with Menefie in 1635 in the "Thrusting out of Sir. John Harvey" as governor.)
