- George Menefie came to Virginia in the ship Samuel, July 1622, and settled at James City where he was listed in the census, 1623/24, and where George Menefy, merchant was granted, 4 Feb 1624/25, 3 roods and 20 poles of ground "for the better convenience of his house by now erected and builded in the New Towne within the precincts of James Citty," abutting "upon the high way parting it from Captain Ralph Hamor," being in part of his first devident of 50 acres due "unto himself who came in the Samuel in 1622, having been in the country almost three years..." His plantation of 1200 acres was located on a neck of land called "Littleton" or "Littletown" and was well known for its flower garden and orchards of apple, pear, cherry and peach trees, the latter cultivated for the first time in North American.

- In 1635, shortly after becoming a member of the Council, Menefie was associated with the group of colonists determined to be rid of Sir John Harvey as governor. With Samuel Mathews and William Peirce he was sent to England to answer charges for his part in the "Thursting out of Sir John Harvey." His request to return to Virginia was granted 29 Sep 1637.

- Georg Minifie, Esqr., was granted 80 poles. "It was enacted at a grand Assembly holden the 20th Feb 1636, that all undertakers to build upon James Island should be encouraged by a grant of a convenient proportion of ground for housing & a garden plot," etc. Between land of Sir Francis Wyatt & Capt. Francis Pott. Free Rent: 1 Capon on the Feast of St. Thomas the Apostle yearly. "Provided that if the said Minifie his heirs or assigns shall not build upon the said parcel of land within the time or term of 6 months after the date of these presents that then if shall be lawfull for any other to make choice of the same land build upon the same."

- Following his return to Virginia he assigned to his step-son Henry Perry 30 headrights, which Perry named in his patent for 1,500 acres, adjacent to his 2,000 acre tract in Charles City known as "Buckland."

- In his will George Menefie directed that "the ship Desire, now lying before "Buckland" be dispatched for England," and bequeathed to "my daughter Elizabeth Menefie all my lands at Westover, at James City and at York River." The will further directed that Menefie's house at "Buckland" be a "joint stock between my daughter Elizabeth and my son-in-law [stepson] Henry Perry," named his wife Mary Extrx and guardian to his daughter, and requested that he be buried at Westover.
