- In his will Matthew Harmanson gave to my loving wife Rachel Harmanson my 400 A. plantation whereon I now dwell during her widowhood; and during her life the plantation bought of Thomas Midcalf and his wife. Also to my wife for life the use of n. men Cogo, James, and Charles, n. girl Catherine, and n. wench Bridget. To wife all the cider and brandy made on the plantation, the use of my best still during her widowhood, and half my part of the schooner. To my son John the 400 A. plantation whereon Gertrude Harmanson formerly lived, £100 which he has received, and the £14 that he had when he built the schooner. To son John n. wench Leah and her children, n. boy Sampson, n. fellow Daniel, my still that is at Nathaniel Rogers', my riding chair, my best silver tankard, an old hand mill, and half my cattle on the plantation where he lives. To my son Patrick Harmanson my 350 A. plantation in Church Neck and 1/2 A. that lies nigh Hungars Bridge, 1/3 part of the 700 A. which I bought of William Brickhouse, n. wench Leah, a hand mill, and 1/4 part of my shallop. One other 1/3 part of the 700 A. to my son Henry Harmanson, and the remaining 1/3 part to my son William Harmanson. To son Henry the plantation where I now live after my wife's marriage and death, n. girl Agnes, n. boy Riah, a hand mill, and my book case and the desk it stands on. To son William the 100 A. plantation bought of Thomas Midcalf and Elizabeth his wife after my wife's death, 200 A. bought of Hilary Belote and William Scott, 125 A. bought of Peter Brickhouse, and n. boy Luke. My wife to have privilege for her animals to feed on the marsh bought of Brickhouse provided she allow the animals of my three sons Patrick, Henry and William to drink at the pond near the house where John Evans now lives. To my dau. Adah Harmanson n. girl Philis, my least silver tankard, a dressing table and £25. To my dau. Anne Harmanson n. girl Leah (the dau. of Bridget). To my dau. Sarah Harmanson one boy Jacob (child of Violator). To Sophia Harmanson n. girl Pleasant (dau. of Peggy). To my friend William Andrews 100 A. on the south side of my seaside tract adjoyning the lands of John Tankard during the life of John Evans, upon condition that said Evans will live on the north side of the said tract and pay my son John £20. After my wife's death, my 3 ns. given her for life to be div. by William, Anne, Sarah, and Sophia Harmanson, and if either of my said children die without heirs then their part to be div. by the survivors. To Patrick Harmanson my pres and some glass that was bought for the house in Church Neck. To my son William 100 A. lying on the south side of my tract adjoining the land of John Tankard. To son John my 1/2 part of n. Adam; but the said Adam to make the shoes needed by my wife and her family and my son Patrick for 3 years, and likewise n. boy Joshua to work with Adam. Remaining ns. to be eq. div. by my seven children Patrick, Adah, Henry, William, Anne, Sarah, and Sophia. Wife and children resid. legatees.
