Marriage* | circa 1800 | He married Comfort Short, daughter of Eli Short and Jessie Messick, circa 1800.1 |
Death* | 1836 | Tatman Truitt died in 1836 at Scott Co, KY. He died intestate. Scott Co, KY tax records confirmed that Comfort Short Truitt (daughter of Eli and Jessie Short) and her son, Short Truitt, held 186 acres of land together after Tatman’s demise. Comfort disappears from tax records c. 1844-45. Short Truitt is in control thereafter. An aside: There is a mystery MAN, born 1766, De., who is Short Truitt’s neighbor in 1850. His name is shown : Comfort! Census indicates “he” is a mason; lives with Sarah Truitt, 1799, De., Mary Truitt, De., 1794. Apparently a lot of folks from Internet postings, consider Sally Short, who married Thomas Butler, Eli’s daughter—I tend to agree with them since I’ve seen Thomas Butler mentioned in Scott Co, KY. There are some illegible areas in Eli’s will, so there might be another daughter. I'm startling to see Abram (b. 1770) as Eli’s first son. Wonder if he married his cousin? (Source: June Chalon.)1 |
