Born January 11, 1943 in Sanford, he was the son of the late Willie Trader and Shirley Bennett White. Dickie was born a waterman and loved working the waters of the Chesapeake Bay. He was well known for his talent in constructing model boats and took great pride in his craftsmanship. He was a member of Sanford United Methodist Church. In addition to his loving wife of forty-four years, he is survived by a son Stephen Trader; and three grandchildren. Other than his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Dickie Orlen Trader, Jr; and a sister. A memorial service will be held at the Sanford United Methodist Church on Sunday, August 7, 2016 at 1:00 p.m., with The Reverend William Jefferson officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sanford United Methodist Church, c/o Michael Walker, 23279 Saxis Road, Sanford, Va. 23426.
