Anecdote* | 7 November 1772 | On 7 Nov 1772 on the Western Shore of the Chesapeake Bay at the house of Mr. William Meredith, Samuel Meridith, of lawfull age, deposed that some time after his sister married the defendant Isaac Dunton, that he went to the Eastern Shore to Mr. Isaac Duntin's and while there the complainant Edmund Scarburgh and the defendant differed and the defendant desired the complainant not to do him any private mischief, but that he was his enemy and was determined to ruin him. Edmund Scarburgh said if his mother would quite her now husband Isaac Dunton he would maintain her for life as a lady and the reason given was the ill ways she received from Mr. Dunton.1 |
