Mr. Marcie William Evans, 81, husband of Sue Taylor Evans and lifelong resident of Saxis, VA, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 24, 2018 at his home. Born May 16, 1937 in Saxis, he was a son of the late Leland Thomas Evans and Lois Chase Evans. Marcie’s love for the water began at a young age as he worked alongside his father. For most of his life he remained a waterman, owning and operating Marcie Evans Seafood. After decades of running his business, Marcie began working as a full time security officer for Sea Watch International, formerly Eastern Shore Seafood. A collector of many things, Marcie enjoyed searching for hidden treasures at yard sales and flea markets and was especially proud of his stockpile of King Syrup cans. He loved model boats, decoys, and all things relating to his passion for the water. Above all else, Marcie adored his family and there was nothing he wouldn’t do for them. Death* | 25 December 2021 | Betty Jean White died on 25 December 2021 at age 77. Mrs. Betty White Fetterman, 77, of Temperanceville, was called home to spend Christmas in heaven with her beloved husband, Kenna Charles Fetterman, just after midnight on Saturday, Dec. 25, 2021. Born Aug. 28, 1944, in Sanford, she was the daughter of the late Huey White Sr. and the late Ethel Martin White. 1976 marked the beginning of Betty’s 30-year career with Tyson Foods, as well as her 45-year love story with her soul mate. Betty and Kenna were inseparable from the moment they met, and their love and adoration for one another was truly one of a kind. Kenna stopped at nothing to ensure Betty’s happiness, even if that meant yearly trips to Lancaster, Pa., countless visits to Dollywood, taking her shopping for purple décor, and sleeping in their canopy bed. Betty enjoyed decorating – especially for the holidays, was constantly looking for the newest trend on QVC, was an avid doll collector, and planned the best family vacations. Throughout her life, family always came first, and she was happiest when spoiling those she loved most in this world. Left to cherish her memory are her loving and devoted sons, Victor William Evans, of Sanford, and Tony Dean Evans, of Salisbury, Md; grandson, Victor William Evans Jr; goddaughter, Michelle Marshall; sister-in-law, Beverly Fetterman Sebra (Ken); brothers-in-law, Robert S. Fetterman Jr. (Pam) and Douglas W. Fetterman (Donna); niece, Amelia Adams Fahey (Jim); nephew, Terry White (Vicki); as well as many other extended family members, dear friends, and her five fur babies. In addition to her husband and parents, Betty was predeceased by her sister, Margaret White, and brother, Huey White Jr. Funeral services will be conducted from the graveside at the Downing’s Cemetery Friday, Dec. 31, 2021, at 1 p.m., with Chaplain David Hackett officiating. Contributions in Betty’s memory may be made to the Eastern Shore SPCA, P.O. Box 164, Onley, VA 23418 (www.shorespca.com). As the ‘big sis,’ she was adored by her brothers and sisters and had a special bond with each of them. On January 22, 1953, Betty married the love of her life, Robert “Bobby” Martin. Together, they raised three children, and over the years, excitedly welcomed several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Having been raised in a Christian home, she proudly served the Lord throughout her life and was a longtime member of Atlantic Baptist Church. Affectionately known as Sis, Mom, Mom-Mom and Rosie to many, she loved and cherished all of her family and friends. Betty was a nurturer, a woman of faith, grace, sweetness, and humor, and she will be greatly missed. Survivors include her children, Della Taylor of Locustville, VA, Robert “Bud” Martin and his wife, Marilyn, of Atlantic, and Connie Sumner of Parksley, VA; sisters, Helen Johnson of Mears, VA and Debbie Taylor and her husband, Oscar, of Bloxom, VA; aunt, Elsie Smith; grandchildren, Karen, David, Teresa, Les (Suzanne), Tina (Aaron), Carrie (Jay), Melissa (Ivan), Brent, and Kyle (Amber); several great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Betty was predeceased by her husband and father of her children, Robert “Bobby” Martin; husband, Glenn Curtis Evans; sister, Elizabeth Curtis and her husband, James; brothers, Willie Frank Parks and Danny Parks and his wife, Connie; and brother-in-law, Eugene Johnson. Biography* | The assumption that Patience Marshall, who married Abraham Lankford in 1813, is the daughter of James and Patience Marshall, is based on the fact that in the 1800 Census, James had 2 daughters aged 10-16, and by 1810 he had 3 daughters. Triffany is the only daughter clearly named in the records. However, this Patience, who could have been named after her mother, is possibly one of the daughters listed in the 1800 and 1810 Census. |
