In 1717 John Baily left the 500 acres on Euwamus Creek to his grandson Parker Selby, who was the son of his daughter Tabitha and her first husband Parker Selby, but at the time of the will, she was the wife of John Purnell of Somerset. 1767 James Selby deeded his interest to his brother William, stating that the land had been left by Parker Selby of Worcester to his sons James, John and William, and that John had previously sold his interest to James and William by a General Court deed. 1770 William Selby sold the southern 200 acres to Samuel Wilson, to become the second piece of woodland for A161 as told in that story. As also reported, in 1792 Selby bought the north 46 acres of A161 along the creek west of Selby's Bridge, and as will be reported later, he bought additional land to the eastward of him, and in 1821 he left the whole plantation to his nephew William Selby Tunnell. Selby's wife Sally later married a John Custis. In 1831 643 acres were divided among the heirs of W.S. Tunnell: this piece included at the east end a mill, which first had been called Selby's Mill and later Tunnell's Mill.2 |
