Anecdote* | August 1913 | Bradley Kerr, son of Captain C.R. Kerr makes a suicide attempt in New York. This was probably late August or early September 1913. Bradley Kerr, despondent because he was out of berth as boatswain attempted suicide at a New York City boarding house. According to his brother, Edward F. Kerr of Baltimore, Bradley was in town about two and a half years ago and was employed as boatswain on the yatch, "Commodore Bartlett" of the Baltimore Yatch Club. He has two other brothers, Charles St. G. Kerr and Maurice Kerr. He has three sisters: Mrs. George Lee, Mrs. Charles Porter and Miss Nannie Kerr, all of Rock Hall, MD. His parents are still living. He was taken to Lebanon Hospital and is expected to recover.1 |

Obituary - Brother's* | 10 March 1921 | She was named in her brother's obituary on 10 March 1921 at Onancock, Accomack Co, VA. 10 Mar 1921 (Eastville Lawyer Dies in Missouri) - Stanley Scott dies after operation in Kansas City. The funeral services of Stanley Scott were conducted at Sweetsprings, Missouri, today, members of his immediate family from both counties leaving here Tuesday to be in attendance. His death, which was both sudden and unexpected, resulted from an operation, and took place at Kansas City at 6 o'clock on Monday morning. White the deceased had suffered two recent attacks of the desase that necessitated the operation on Sunday, he appeared to be in sound health when leaving his home in Eastville about two weeks ago. Preparatory to opening offices for the practice of law in Roanoke, Mr. Scott was closing up his business affairs here, and was on a visit to his wife's relatives in Missouri. He was of Eastville, and has practiced law in this county for a number of years. He also practiced his profession in Norfolk and Nrewport News before locating here. He was the son of Mr. & Mrs. Thos. M. Scott. He was a graduate of Washington and Lee University law school and was married to Madeline Lapsley of Missouri, who with two small children, Mary and Elizabeth, survive him. He is also survived by three sisters and two brothers: Mrs. Thomas N. Jacob, Mrs. G. Fred Kelley, Mrs. E.O.F. Custis, all of Onancock; T. Murray Scott and J.T. Scott, both of Eastville. A sister, Mrs. Marion J. Dennis of Norfolk died a month ago.5 |

Joynes’ Company of the Second Regiment of Virginia Militia, Accomack County, in the Service of the United States commanded by Colonel Thomas M. Bayly for the years 1813 & 1814. Know all men by these presents that I, William Revell of the County of Accomack and State of Virginia, do constitute, nominate and appoint Captain Isaac Smith of the same place my true and lawful attorney for me and in my name to receive all the monies that are due me by the State of Virginia for services preformed during the late war as Quarter Master Sergeant as will more fully appear by reference to my account filed in the accountants office in the City of Richmond, with power to make all and every alteration he may find necessary in my said account, hereby ratifying and confirming all and everything my said attorney may do concerning the same. Given under my hand at Onancock the 18th ofMay 1816. Signed and Acknowledged William Revell (Seal) In Presence of: Levin L. Joynes, George K. Bowman, Thomas R. Joynes. I also assign & transfer to the said Thompson Holmes, Thomas R. Joynes, Hugh G. Seymour & Wm. D. Seymour all my right, title & interest under the will of John K. Revell dec'd, of in and to all the estate of said Jno. K. Revell and his daughter Comfort Anne Revell in possession reversion or remainder contingent or vested and I hereby authorize the said Thompson Holmes, Thomas R. Joynes, Hugh G. Seymour & Wm. D. Seymour to sell and dispose of all my interest in the aforesaid Slaves and other estates in such manner as they may think best and to apply the proceeds arising from such sales towards the payment of the aforesaid judgment which judgments were rendered during the present year. William Revell of Accomack Co, in consideration of several judgments rendered against me in the Superior Court & County Court in favor of Thompson Holmes, Thomas R. Joynes, Hugh G. Seymour & William D. Seymour, Extrs of William Seymour dec'd and the whole amount of which judgments are now due and unsatisfied do sell & transfer to the aforesaid all my right, title & interest in right of my wife Sally of, in & to all the Slavery held by Wm. Watson in right of his wife Margaret formerly the wife of Nathaniel Fosque dec'd, as her dower of the Slavery of said Nathaniel Fosque and which on the death of the said Margaret Watson, the said dower Slavery belong to thy said wife Sally and John Fosque & Elizabeth Revell, who are the children of said Nathaniel Fosque. I also assign & transfer to the said Thompson Holmes, Thomas R. Joynes, Hugh G. Seymour & Wm. D. Seymour all my right, title & interest under the will of John K. Revell dec'd, of in and to all the estate of said Jno. K. Revell and his daughter Comfort Anne Revell in possession reversion or remainder contingent or vested and I hereby authorize the said Thompson Holmes, Thomas R. Joynes, Hugh G. Seymour & Wm. D. Seymour to sell and dispose of all my interest in the aforesaid Slaves and other estates in such manner as they may think best and to apply the proceeds arising from such sales towards the payment of the aforesaid judgment which judgments were rendered during the present year. In 1771 John Guy (wife Susan) left to son John. In 1795 John Guy (wife Elizabeth) left his estate to 2 unnamed children; from the next record it is determined that one of the children must have been a son Thomas H. Guy who ultimately had sole ownership. In 1841 commissioners sold the land of Elizabeth A. Guy, which she had inherited from her father Thomas H. Guy, to James B. and Robert J. Poulson; the latter soon purchased the interest of the former.1 |
