William Williams is known to have been a doctor. When he came to Accomack Co to live is uncertain, but he married Margaret, the daughter of Henry & Scarburgh Custis of tract A94B. The earliest record of his name noted was in 1772 when he and his wife Margaret sold A37A, which she had inherited from her father. Among other children they had Elizabeth who married John Wharton of A121T across the creek. Margart survived the doctor and after her death the land was surveyed in 1820 for a division and showed 585 1/2 acres; 400 1/2 went to George W. Arbuckle and 185 to William H. West in right of his wife Ann C., they being the children of Edward Arbuckle and his wife Anne Williams of A141B. Mount Williams was A141C and the house was shown on a 1820 survey, but it has disappeared since that date.5 |
