Thomas J. (of Abel & Sally) Bradford
M, b. circa 1802, d. before 26 April 1858
Father | Abel (of Zephaniah) Bradford1 b. bt 1770 - 1775, d. b 1840

Birth* | circa 1802 | Thomas was born circa 1802 at Accomack Co, VA.2 |
Anecdote* | Lacking more direct proof the assumption that Thomas J. Bradford was a son of Abel (of Zephaniah) and Sally Bradford is based on the fact that Nathaniel J. Bradford was named to settle his estate and Fisher W. Bradford was named one of the securities. The tradition of the times was that a son, brother or uncle would be named administrator and other sons, brothers or uncles would be among the securities. In this case Fisher W. Bradford (a security) was shown as a son of Abel & Sally Bradford on his 2nd marriage in 1877, therefore it is assumed that he and Nathaniel J. Bradford (the administrator) were brothers of Thomas J. Bradford.1

Doughty, Trustees for the Methodist Church South, brought 1/4 acre of land near Craddockville for $1 from Erastus A. Kellam, where the Methodist Church South now stands, to build or repair a house or houses for public worship. It was bounded on the Northwest by the Pungoteague Public Road an on the south by the Cross Road, containing 20 yards each way upon which the Methodist Church South now stands. (NOTE: According to Kirk Mariner's Revival's Children, when Erastus Kellam deeded the church lot to the denomination the building already stood on it, and the congression had already seceded to the Methodist Episcopal Church, South.)5,6 |
Death* | before 26 April 1858 | He died before 26 April 1858 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that administration on the estate of Thomas J. Bradford was granted to Nathaniel J.
