VIRGINIA SERVICE OF WILLIAM HARMON (OF JOHN) AND MARGARET WO 17394 and W C 30035, --Page 106-- Bounty land warrant No 74,438 for 160 acres in 1855 Service under Capt James I Teakle's company of Virginia Militia (In one days battle service May 29 1814) Residence of Soldier 1855 Lovestvile, Accomack County Va and 1878 the widow was in said Accomack Co Va, at Onancock Va. Soldier's first wife was named Betsey and his second wife was Nancy Stewart. His widow was named Margaret _ _ ? They married Jan 5 1854 at Locustville, Va. He died Dec 9 1874 in Accomack Co Va . Testimony of two comrades proves that soldier was in Battle at Rumney's Gut? Va May 29 1814 and the Auditor's report shows that he was present from Aug 13 to 29 1814 under age for which he received no pay. Affidavit in Accomack Co Va 1879 b. Sarah Philips, wife of Wesley Phillips of said county states before her marriage with Wesley Phillips her name was Sarah Harmon daughter of Wm Harmon dec'd by his wife Betsey Harmon also deceased, that her mother Betsy Harmon died 22 Dec 1832, that her father afterwards married Nancy Stewart, who also died 1840, and her father afterward married Margaret Kellam, widow of Charles Kellam, deceased, that she is now age 57. DECLARATION was made by Margaret Harman 1878 stating she married Wm Harmon 1854 Jan 5; that her name before marriage was Margaret Kellam. William Harmon (of John) 1857 Feb 14, in Accomack Co Va age 59 states he was a soldier of Capt James S Teackle in the 2nd regiment of Va militia under Col Thomas M Bayly. He makes this for purpose of obtaining bounty land to which he may be entitled under Act March 3 1855.3 |
