D., 68 years old, pastor of Waverly Methodist Protestant Church, died yesterday afternoon at his home, 18 Independent street, Waverly, after an illness of three months. Dr. Ewell was born in Accomac county, Virginia. Shortly after coming of age he graduated at a medical college in Philadelphia. Forty-five years ago he entered the Maryland Conference of the Methodist Protestant Church. Among his earlier charges were the Protestant churches of Crisfield and Pocomoke City. At Crisfield he built up a large congregation in the church which had been erected just prior to his going there. About 20 years ago he came to Baltimore, and for 14 years was pastor of the South Baltimore Methodist Protestant Church, Light street, near West. He was instrumental in building up the congregation of that church also. In the spring of 1901 he was appolnted to be pastorate of Waverly Church, and was much beloved by his congregation. He is survived by a widow, Mrs. Arinthia S. Ewell; four sons, Dr. O. B. B. Ewell, of Marion Station, Md; Mr. A. W. Ewell, of Crisfield, Md; Rev. John H. S. Ewell, of Alexandria, Va., and Mr. George R. Ewell, and one daughter, Miss Minnie B. Ewell. The body was taken to Crisfield for interment. Baltimore Sun, 8th.
