Anecdote* | 1865 | William and Mary Elizabeth Thornton lived south of Assawoman. He was a boat captain plying his trade to Philadelphia and Baltimore. They are buried amongst a clump of trees on the east side of Metompkin Rd. in between some black folks and Ryan Chesser's chicken houses. The cemetery is terribly overgrown and we have never visited it (Sue & Becky Boggs).7 |

He, supposedly, died at or near Sparows Point, MD. This was told to our Great Aunt Ida, who consulted a fortune teller (Sue & Becky Boggs).6 |

After his death, Sally married a John Parramore, but neither of inland parts was traced further. The second part was below the road, between the Williams & Corbin lands, and comprised 374 acres; 168 acres next to the Williams' went to the Hollands and the balance of 206 acres to Thomas Teackle Taylor.2 |
