Mr. Bloomfield Miles, 56, of Fruitland, MD died Monday, August 3rd at 6 A.M. at Peninsula General Hospital, after a short illness. He was strickened with a heart attack Monday A.M. July 27th and later showed signs of improvement until Friday, July 30th, when he was stricken with pneumonia, of which he succumbed. He was the son of the late Richard Miles, Sr. and Mary Carpenter Miles. He was born in the vicinity of Machipongo where he lived the earlier years of his life. Mr. Miles was a veteran of World War I enlisting in the Army in 1918. In 1920 he made his home for a while in Nassawadox, while there he married Miss Margaret Savage of Keller in Sept. 1920. he then moved to Hebron, MD and made his home in the vicinities of Hebron, Salisbury and Fruitland, Md until his death. Funeral was held at Holloways Funeral Home, Salisbury, Md. on Wednesday at 2 P.M. Interment was in Hebron Cemetery. Mr. Miles is survived by wife Margaret Savage Miles; one son, Roy Miles of Salisbury; one daughter, Jean Ryall; one grandson, Donnie Miles; one granddaughter, Bonnie Jean Ryall; one half brother, two half sisters on father's side: Mr. Clifford Miles, Exmore; Mrs. Gussie Beachboard and Mrs. Lena Beachboard, Accomac; one brother Charlie Miles, Cape Charles; one half brother, two half sisters on mother's side: William T. Davis, Nassawadox; Mrs. Evelyn Isdell, Mrs. Katie Townsend, Birdsnest. The funeral was largely attended and the floral tributes were numerous and beautiful, showing that Mr. Miles had a host of friends..2 |
