To son Thomas land where he now lives called Plators point provided he give so much of the land he bought of Sacker Parker to join the land I shall give my son Moses, & if he refuse Moses to have Plators poynt to make up his full quantity. Wife Elizabeth residue of my estate for life, but if she marry my son John to take possession of my now dwelling house with 187 acres, it being 1/2 of my 374 acres in Joyys (Jollys) Neck, & I give to my son Moses the remaining 187 acres. Should John die without issue Moses to have his part, and Moses' part to go to my son Jesse Jenkinson, & should all three die without issue the whole 374 acres to go to my daughter Frances Jenkinson & for want of heris to my daughter Mare Jenkinson, & for want of heirs to my daughter Neome & for want of heirs to my daughter Catherine & should there be no living heir then to the Church of this Parish, but if any of my daughters inherit the said plantation it shall be called Thomas Jenkinson's Plantation forever & if they alter the name they shall be disinherited & the land to fall to the next to bear up the name forever. After the death of my wife balance of the estate to be divided between my children John, Catherine, Naome, Frances, Mare, Moses, Jesse & Elizabeth Jenkinson & if my wife marry I set my children free at 18. Brother-in-law Ralph Corbin Extr & wife Extr. Witt: Thomas Towles, Job. Towles & Howell Bootin. (NOTE: The term brother-in-law during this period normally meant step-brother. However, this relationship is difficult to determine. Jenkinson's wife Elizabeth was Elizabeth Booth, not Corbin, so they were not brothers-in-law as defined today. Ralph Corbin's mother was Susanna, widow of Peter DuParks of N'hamp County, but if she was before that the mother of Thomas Jenkinson, then they would have been half-brothers and not step-brothers. They are being shown as half-brothers until more information can be found.)1 |
