In 1724 Benjamin Hickman, now living in Somerset County, sold his inherited 135 acres to Joseph Hickman, and in 1752 he sold to William Hickman Jr. He is believed to have been the William Hickman who died intestate in 1778, his estate being administered to Isaiah Hickman, presumably his son and heir-at-law. In 1806 Isaiah left his land to his daughters Polly Hickman and Rebeccah Wright, the wife of Thomas. Two years later the land was surveyed and each received 76 acres; Polly's land was at the upper end, below the George Warner property, so the latter land must have been in the northwest corner of the whole, and the Isaiah Hickman bequested land evidently lay below it along the wester boundary of the tract.1 |
