Biography* | | In his will, written 24 Nov 1790, William Broadwater named a wife Esther, a son Savage Broadwater and a brother John Broadwater. To wife Esther all my land where I now live during her widowhood and then to my son Savage Broadwater. My interest in the land where James Warrington now lives to be sold for the payment of my debts. Brother John Broadwater executor. Witnesses were Elias Broadwater and Martha Pitt (Acc Co Wills, 1788-94, p. 361). This William (wife Esther) inherited the land of his great grandfather William, who left 125 acres to his son William (wife Bridget) in 1726, which then went to his son William (wife Comfort) in 1774, and then to this William (wife Esther) in 1783. It was the northeast quarter. This William (wife Esther) left the home part to his son Savage Broadwater, and directed that the part where James Warrington lived was to be sold. A survey the next year produced 148 acres, of which Savage received 100 acres, and the 48 acres at the east end were sold to Custis Jenkinson (Witelaw, p. 1292). |
